Now taking early sign-ups
Everything the people you love will need, kept safe until they need it.
The Kindest Gift holds your accounts, documents and final wishes, encrypted on your own device. The people you choose get access only when the time comes, and only you can stop it before then.
No spam. We email you once when early access opens.
Why it matters
The hardest week of their lives shouldn't also be a scavenger hunt.
- Families search through drawers, inboxes and old statements to find which accounts even exist.
- Life insurance, retirement plans and old 401(k)s go unclaimed because nobody knew about them.
- A locked phone or email account can block access to nearly everything else.
- Decisions about the service get made within days, often before anyone has read the will.
How it works
Set it up once. Keep it current. It does the rest.
Fill it in at your own pace
Guided sections tell you what families most often wish they had: accounts, policies, passwords, documents and your wishes. Attach scans as you go.
Choose your trusted people
Invite a partner, a child, a close friend, your executor or your attorney. Decide what each one can see. Write private letters to each of them.
They get in only when it's time
Check in with one tap every few months. If you stop, your trusted people are notified after reminders and a waiting period that you can cancel.
What goes inside
Eight sections, written by people who have settled estates.
Each one explains why it matters and marks the essentials, so nothing important is left out.
Security
Built so that even we can't open it.
Your vault is locked with keys that only exist on your devices and the devices of the people you choose.
Encrypted before it leaves your device
Every entry is encrypted on your phone or computer. Our servers only ever store locked data, so a breach or a subpoena exposes nothing readable.
Your people never need your passphrase
Each person you choose gets their own sealed key. It opens only after your release rules are met, and only for the sections you chose for them.
Nothing released while you can stop it
Missed check-ins trigger reminders by app, email and text, then a waiting period. One tap cancels it.
Works even if we don't
Printed recovery shares, held by people you trust, open your vault from a backup without our servers. It will be independently audited before launch.
For estate attorneys and advisors
Give every client a place for the details a will leaves out.
A will says who inherits. It doesn't say where the accounts are, which passwords matter or who to call first.
- Offer The Kindest Gift to clients when they sign their estate plan.
- Hold a client's recovery share alongside the original will.
- Executors arrive with a complete list of accounts and contacts, which shortens the first meetings.

Questions
What people ask first
Is this a will?
No. The Kindest Gift works alongside your will and estate plan. It holds the practical information your family needs to carry them out. You still need a will, made with an attorney.
Can you see what I store?
No. Everything is encrypted on your device before it is saved, with keys we never have. We can see that a vault exists and how large it is, not what is in it.
What if I'm in the hospital and miss a check-in?
Nothing is released right away. You get reminders on every channel for the period you choose, then a waiting period during which you can cancel with one tap. You set how long each step lasts.
What happens to my vault if The Kindest Gift shuts down?
You can export an encrypted backup at any time. Your recovery shares and our free, open-source reader open that backup without us.
When can I start using it?
We're building it now. Join the waitlist and we'll email you once when early access opens.
